FAQ Dog Care Pomeranian Dwarf Spitz

Yes, we do, because we groom Pomeranians every week in our dog salon in Lugano.

Pomeranians are among the dog breeds whose coat requires special expertise and care.

The dense double coat must be carefully cared for without damaging the natural coat structure.

At the Dog Shop Paradise Lugano dog groomer, the utmost attention is paid to the individual condition of your Pomeranian's coat, its age and its needs.

DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH POMERANIANS?

The cost of grooming a Pomeranian depends primarily on the condition of its coat, its size, and the desired treatment.

A simple wash of a Pomeranian, using high-quality products and shampoos, conditioners, and care during drying and brushing specifically selected for this coat type, costs from CHF 54 for a Pomeranian up to 4 kg in weight.

Brushing out the undercoat, trimming the claws, cleaning the ears, and caring for the paws and genital area are included in the price.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CARE FOR A POMERANIA?

Together we'll take a close look at the condition of your Pomeranian's coat. For very dry fur, we recommend our special care products for Pomeranians.

A conditioning mask is applied, which we warm and leave on. Additionally, a special conditioning oil is used. Applied during blow-drying, it protects the coat and makes it soft and silky without weighing it down or making it oily.

MY POMERANIAN HAS VERY DRY FUR, WHAT CAN I DO?

Hair loss in Pomeranians, also known as Alopecia X, is a common disease in this breed.

Besides hormonal imbalances, improper coat care, especially shearing the sensitive double coat of the Pomeranian, is a known cause. We frequently see Pomeranians with this coat problem.

We will discuss the exact procedure with you, give you tips on how to address this problem, and, most importantly, begin with the professional treatment of the sensitive double coat. This includes special grooming products for the Pomeranian's double coat and the correct cut, namely only with scissors.

We often see a significant improvement in the coat condition of Pomeranians after just a few sessions.

MY POMERANIAN IS LOSING FUR IN SOME PLACES, WHAT IS THE CAUSE AND WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT?

Here's an example from our dog grooming salon:

A Pomeranian with pronounced Alopecia X,

Hair loss. (Black skin disease)

We are constantly being brought Pomeranians,

which were unfortunately shaved improperly.

This damages and alters the structure of the fur!

In Pomeranians and other dogs with an undercoat, shearing damages the entire coat structure.

The topcoat is damaged and doesn't grow back properly! Instead, often only the soft undercoat grows back.

The coat becomes dull, cottony, and mats more easily, and can lead to permanent hair loss, especially in genetically predisposed dogs.

Therefore, at Dog Shop Paradise Lugano after specific washing, drying and extra care, every dog with an undercoat is thoroughly brushed, the undercoat is gently removed, mats are loosened and the topcoat is only lightly trimmed into shape - with scissors.
